I'm 13 too!

honestly, I really didnt like it that much, so I voted 2 and THEN read the authors comments that you clearly stated to please read.
Yeah, um. for your age, its not bad... but... I'm 13 too. I dont use my age as a way to get higher votes. If you present yourself with confidence, (but not too much!) and work hard to think up new things that no one's done before, then you'll do way better than if you just justify your *pretty average* work and make stick films. I too was self taught, so I know what it's like to struggle with the challenges of flash. If you need any help or tips or anything, just PM me, Im usually around :)

OMG just read your name. I know someone named chris collins. You dont HAPPEN to be called fishy against your will in our class, do you? If your not that same Chris, then disregard that.

Hope I've helped a bit! Good luck!

hi. Im not that person you thought i was i live in north wales in UK if that helps. Thanks for the advie. If youve got any animations on NG or somewhere please show me them maybe we could learn things from eachother

lol

I liked this alot, the doctors note totally made the whole thing tho, without it, the presentation would have seemed boring and less awesome. I dont think that doctors note idea has been done before either, so extra points for that! The buttons in the bottom corners were a little distracting because of how much they moved, next time you might want to change that so the grey stuff only rolls behind the text while the mouse is hovering over the button.
Sound would have been nice, but I'm sure it would be hard to get something that worked with the piece, since this is really just a presentation of comics.
The comics themselves were quite funny, the childish style was perfect for the random content, so you should be quite pleased with yourself about that. This will probably get a green score. I 5'd it.

thanks,

Thank you, good sir.

You clearly have a scanner.

This was really fun for me to watch because I personally really love experimental animations, so this was really pleasing to my eye. Eyes.

The whole thing seemed pretty well thought out, from the textures of the paper used for the background (I've done some stuff like this, check out "treekeepers") I think they were graph paper and lined paper turned on its side, to the distortion of the voices. The music mixed really well with it, and the characters were well drawn and for the most part well animated. My only suggestions would be to maybe quiet down the distorted voices, because for the time being they're really loud, and make the buildings in the scene with the spinning sun bigger. It was kinda hard to tell they were buildings.
Menus and text weren't bad, actually, the opening menu wasnt my favorite because of how the 666 seemed really detatched from the "beyond insanity" and with both of them kinda sprawled across the top corner of the page, I honestly did not know that was your screen name. Also, all of the text, including the text in the conversation about horses coming for tea (maybe a bit too weird) (but either way, lol. ) seemed really bitmappy and pixelated. The best example of this is when the meatballesque guy says "I was waiting for the rain" and the title, fleep, on the menu.

All in all, I really did like this, but if you do happen to want to redo it, think about these suggestions. I 5'd it, so dont worry about the not-ten review score. :)

Thanks,
Morrowdays

Oh, and what was up with the dead guy at the end? That confused me.

Beyond-Insanity-666 responds:

I have gotten comments of the voices from other people, I'll go tone them down now.
I'm glad you enjoyed this, and I really enjoyed reading your observations of this, not many people can type up an essay for a review, but it's nice when someone does.
Thanks for the review =D

this movie got a four from me, would have been a three if not for the dreary ending, that made me sad. before I continue to review, I read through your response to thakillah's review, and just wanted to point out to you that the idea of "responses is not so that you can review the review (as you did) but to accept what the viewer thought of the movie, and if you have further questions about their intent, to ask them to PM you with advice on how to make the film better.

the sound was pretty good, appropriate, and it seemed as though you spent time looking at different songs to see what would fit right. However, it bugged me that when he was smashing the lock with his gun no sound came out, as with when the lock fell and bounced on the ground.

Now, the plot of this movie was somewhat lacking in parts, for example, why did the person at the door kill the other guy? why was the girl locked in a cabinet? (I know it explains in your 'authors comments', but even then it didnt seem as though the two in the house were enemies, it just seemed as though the woman was mad that adam shot her friend. )which was a bit confusing, but I got the idea that once the girl and the guy died they were happy in "happy river".

The frame by frame animation at the beginning wasnt bad, but when the person *adam* was walking towards the locked cabinet with the camera angle on the side, it was pretty bad. especially how his shoulders moved and how they were connected to his body. the mouth on the girl when she was about to be shot was pretty clearly a very simple motion tween, and when te woman was holding the shotgun and the camera was staring down the barrels, I was honestly confused at what she was holding.
the ideas behind it sort of won out over all, but the animation could definitely be improved upon. Oh! just remembered, the way you had it zoom in from (I think it was) the girls whole body to just her eye was really nice, but it was ruined *in my opinion* by the recycled eye movieclip or graphic. well, you know, the eye sequence where it cryed. Lastly on the animation note, Adam looked very different from the side than he did from the front, almost so much you couldnt tell it was him.

The menu was nice, I appreciate when people take the time to do something interesting with the preloader, as well as add a scene selection thing, which adds points to the scorre just for general niceness. Again, the complicated plot structure and the ideas won out, but the graphics could really be improved. I gave it 4/5, but now if I could go back, I'd probably give it like, a two or a three.

thanks,

by the way, if you feel that anything I've said is rude or unfair in any way, feel free to badmouth any of my submissions in response. ;)

M4KBOT responds:

Best review ever.

this made my day happy.

I found this totally hilarious because I still havent quite figured out why that song is at the top of the itunes charts. Seeing a monkey rap the (ridiculous) lyrics "im hot cause Im fly, you aint cause you not" is just... really funny. great job!

sorry if you actually really respect mims and I've made you sad :(

ZeroMega responds:

Someone told me I should make monkeys sing to Mims, I didn't really want to but it worked pretty good lol

Congrats!

Great job on getting the daily fifth! It truly is nice to see one of your animations get an award, especially one with a heartfelt memory at the end. That was a nice touch. Story was great, I loved the mysterious shadow of Tom Fulp near the end, and the graphics were nice as well. In most of the newgrounds portal animations, the portal is like, this massive space vortex kinda thing or like in mother of all blams, a borderline. I like your presentation the best.

good job, 4/5, 9/10 (submitted it to christmas as well)

-morrow

Jimtopia responds:

Ah, well thx a ton. I thought my representation of "The Portal" was most fitting too, glad you noticed. Yes, I actually thought of making Tom a shadowy figure right as I was making the scene, I had no previous ideas of what to make him. Thx for submitting to x-mas, I really hope I can get into the contest and do well. Thx again.

Nice!

I liked it a lot. For a first, it was fantastic, and the music fit pretty well. It vaguely reminded me of my nail animation.
The artwork was good, smooth animation, but if your going to do another one like this, try to build it up some more, like make him try more things before getting through. Otherwise it's over before your audience knows whats going on. But ya, nice job!

Ericotobb responds:

Thank you! Lol!

Beautiful Animation

definetly my favorite. In your comments you say that if we enjoy it we should submit it to music videos, but I really think that this belongs in the experimental collection. To me it seemed like the animation was all little experiments you had done and then hadnt had a place to put them, so, ya.

(humor's for the 'OMG TRACING' part)

artville responds:

Thanks.. hmm. never though of it that way.. well, thanks anyway.. Glad you likedd it :D

you know...

seriously guys, I love these, but dont you think they're getting a little bit repetitive? The idea of being a flash..ist(?) is to create a body of quality work, not to create billions of the same things with a different picture and words. still, I love them!

TheSoulMan responds:

Wow, I wish I could submit more per day.

I'll try my best to stick to the rules (this time)

graphics: the graphics in this animation are okay, the ones in the intro are better than the ones in the picture.
style: again, intro better than picture. dropped points because it isnt actually an animation. if newgrounds had a photoshop portal, this would be perfect for it.
sound: same song as al the other ones
violence: none
interactivity: play button
humour: good attempt, but I never find these entertaining.

I have been reading all your replies to various reviews, and you keep claiming that this isnt offensive, because hitler isnt doing anything at all. But I think what your not understanding is thaat the very image of hitler IS offensive to many people despite wether he's holding a beachball or in canadian mounty-esque clothing. its just not right.

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

A picture of Hitler isn't offensive. I'd best remove the picture from my profile, since apparantly pictures of people are offensive.
