MorrowDays's News

I was thinking about how I'll fairly regularly start something and not finish it, and I was wondering about you guys, what do you think the ratio is between projects completed and projects not? It leads into other interesting ideas, for instance, does a better ratio generally correspond with being a better animator?

I don't know. If you guys post back with your ratio we'll all know a bit more I guess. :)

I think mine would probably be about 2 to 1 right now, two started and one finished out of three. 1/3. a third.

In terms of completion, I guess we all have different ideas about that but I'd say just go with what you feel means complete.

Also, I animated something recently. Its kind of neat I think.

First off...

well actually I don't really have anything to go first off.

SECONDLY, I've been doing some new stuff lately which I've been really happy with, mainly BREAK. It was really fun to do so I'm happy.

The other thing that Im making this post to plug is SFC3, I was talking about it a while ago, but its been on hiatus for a bunch of reasons and it's finally out now!

These are cool guys and most of them skate pretty well so they all deserve MAJOR PROPS.

GO BUY USED THINGS

Hohoho! It's like, christmas everywhere! yay.

I like christmas. I've been sick for the past couple of days and I haven't really been able to do much at all, but I think Im doing a bit better now and I figured I should post something.

I got some really cool stuff from my family this year, nothing in particular that I can explain really easily, but to substitute I'll just direct you on to this site for a store I love that I got some things from. If your ever in toronto or some other place they exist, go, because it's great stuff.

yeah. its snowy here but its warm right now so it's beginning to melt :(

coolio knows what i'm saying :3

Nick and I made something sort of cool as well, I like it myself, but apparently you guys don't. Oh well! It was fun to make. and I like it which is important. It's about these two characters and one steals a tv and it explodes. yep.

check it out! it's not very long so it wont make you miss any important christmassy stuff.

I thought all of the tablet winners were really talented and deserving, it was nice to hear a couple of familiar names on the list, and I think we'll see a big productivity boost in the next little while. 30+ tablets is like, a lot, Tom. Good on ya.

rawrawrr. Go eat some clementines or something.

Yeah man. DECEMBER. I'm really looking forward to snow.. and christmas, and all that stuff.

I'm also looking forward to getting some new stuff up here.. mainly a game. For a while now I've been really impressed by the fact that flash artists can like, get PAID by sponsors if they make good games, so I'm going to try my hand at that.

I've started already, really I started a while ago, but its been on hold with other projects I've been working on, but now, today I've seen some sponsored games that really reminded me of how cool that would be. To have something sponsored.

I really don't know what I'm doing with actionscript so this will definitely be an experiment, but I hope it turns out well. I like it so far.

But expect that sometime in December unless I say something else, because I'm hoping to get it done soon!

what are you guys doing for the holidays? :]

Hey everyone, so halloween happened.

A lot of really cool stuff came through, I watched all of Marcy's spooks, the Rockoons thing Im sure you've all seen, the ladies room, Nocturnus, etc, so yeah lots of good work being done.

BUT THE POINT OF THIS POST is to link to what Notorious and I made. I'm not going to be subtle about it or anything.

pipe ghosts

fun to make! a bit of a deadline crunch at the end with savefile-ing it back and forth a bunch, but its up now and TOM, we'd really like to see it in the collection because its not there now and it is indeed meant for halloween. :)

in other news, I've got something from six months ago I still haven't submitted! So likely some new (but not) stuff coming up shortly.

happy november!

I like how you can move stuff around on your userpage now. Just to show how cool I am, I've moved my favorite audio.. above my favorite animations. INORITE?!

I think most people will keep their blog boxes just so people wont miss them.. but I like the option to move the 'latest submission' box up. Thats probably the only thing I'll do.. every once in a while switch it around if I've made something new. SO YEAH COOL STUFF.

ANYWAYS, the super impersonal message I want you all to know about is that halloween is like, soon, guys. Its going to happen. This year, Notorious, of Oxygen fame, among other stuff he's done, (as well as being pretty well known for his CONTROVERSIAL writings from time to time) and I, are teaming up to make something for this satanic day we all love so much!

It should be cool. I dont really want to post previews since that would, you know.. give it away and all, but its about some very specific ghosts who live in drainage. There's a neat old song from like, the 20s playing in the background as well.. which should give it a good feeling.

Notorious has skillz at doing creepy/eerie animation. If you've seen like, any of his stuff, its pretty spooky. perfect for zee halloween seeazon.

if you combine the names, morotorious sounds pretty cool. THAT ALONE should make for a good halloween animation. :)

Happy halloween everyone!

oh yeah... the boogley has a cool collab coming out soon.. Im a part of that. its a really neat concept so go give the trailer a look!

Not really a personal message to NG

WELLL... I've been thinking about doing a listy sort of post like this for a while.. so here it is. These are just various things I know about that I feel like sharing. No necessary subject, genre, just some of the stuff that I'm into.

Blik wall graphics. these are really great, Im planning on getting an undoboy dreamland set this summer for my currently bare, white walled room. They look like they really brighten things up and the artists they've been working with are really talented. (Undoboy, Charles/Ray Eames, Matthew Haggett, and Zeptonn are some of my favorites)

The new ikea ads. These are neat. they make me smile. NO, ikea is not particularly high quality and you have to put it together yourself etc etc but the organizedness of it is kind of light and fun. plus those ads are funny.

Sticker Traders, this is actually really good from a global community sort of thing, basically you send in 15 stickers that a decent size, and they send you a pack of 15 stickers from all the other people AROUND THE WORLD who have sent in stickers too! I haven't tried it yet because they're redoing the site or whatever, but whatever. take a look through the flicker stuff.

Watching animators grow. (xmpl: Notorious, Swain, Marcy, and WAYY more) Newgrounds is good for that. Its cool to scroll back to someone's first work and then one in the middle and then a recent one and seeing what a huge difference it makes. Makes ya kinda optimistic for your own improvement in the future. I watched my first thing, greymation, a little while back and was amazed by how much more I can do now. Its crazy. I really like Notorious's older stuff a lot, the sleeper was one of the first series on newgrounds I really liked.

seatbelt belts. I dunno. this picture of one makes them look lame, but I've seen people with cool ones.

Design By Humans. tee shirts with big pictures on them. some of then even have really cool big pictures on them. I like retort, the one with the fish that's at the top.

Bloxes kind of expensive, if you've got the money and need a chair or two they'd be great! fun from a structural perspective, they actually support your weight when you put them together. worth a look.

Im going to end with this little video called Mr Muffin. It's an ad I've seen a few times while watching the olympics, and its really heartfelt and sweet. Made for RBC. One of the more interesting things about it is that none of it is stop motion, it's all CG, created at a low frame rate with lots of textures to give it that human touch we all love stop motion for. its really great, one of my favorites right now.

well thats that! I hope some of you like some of the stuff, or at least give a few a look. :)

right now me and a certain set of norwegian twins are working with nick deary on a certain GUEST APPEARANCE episode. I haven't given there names because they might want to keep it on the down low, Im not sure.. haha. me and Nick are making something for clockday, and I'm working on my usual stream of solo projects.

do I have a picture to close this with? hmm.. umm... oh yeah, here, I kinda like this one. I drew MORO on a bunch of hexagonal prism shapes as a logo, they're pretty simple so I'll probably make stickers out of them. any thoughts?

I know the quality is no fun but thats okay.

All eleven of us involved were very pleased to cut that big red ribbon leading to CARDBOARD CITY earlier today, around 2:00! It was a marvelous construction project, a little ambitious, mind you, but it all worked out in the end and no one lost an eye, so I think we're all good. I'd write all sorts of stuff about it here, but I've already written all sorts of stuff about it in the thread, and in the author comments on the submission page!

At this point, I'm all lots of stuffed out.

hope you like it!

Hey everyone, I finished something new! it was really fun working on, and people seem to like it.

It started out as me playing around with masks, but then I wanted to do more with it so i kept at it and finished it off as a full piece. Hope you take a moment and go check it out.

ALSO

the SFC is making a new collab called SFC3, and it should be really awesome.

Cardboard City is coming along well! We've got a great line-up as it is, but there's still plenty of room, so if you'd like to animate a nice, urban setting using various cardboard textures, you've come to the right place!

Slowly but surely the game I'm working on is coming along, it isnt anywhere near done, and I'm starting to really understand how time consuming castle crashers must be for Tom. Of course, he actually knows how to code games and stuff, where as I dont.

I'm probably going to figure out how flash ads work sometime soon. Its pretty awesome that you can now make money from something you previously couldnt. I like that.

Thats right, the guys over at the SFC made a skateboarding collab, for pico day. It shows off an eclectic taste of pico and friends' softer, happier sides, making it an excellent whole-family experience.

It was a lot of fun to make, and we hope you enjoy it!

Happy Pico Day!
